You can take the road through Dubci or the highway from Makarska to go on a one-day excursion to the town of Imotski, situated in the Dalmatian hinterland and the site of two world known phenomena - two karst lakes: the Blue Lake and the Red Lake. To reach Sinj, you will need a little over an hour. Every August, this town hosts the annual "Sinjska alka", a knight tournament dating back to the Ottoman siege. You may also want to visit Sinj on 15 August and join the procession commemorating Assumption Day, a holiday widely celebrated in Dalmatia. Similarly, to the rest of the Cetinska krajina region, Sinj is known for equestrianism and even boasts a horse race track. Trainers and guides will take you through the fields and meadows along the Cetina River. Riding lessons along the Cetina River, or even rafting down its rapids, can also be arranged in Trilj, just a 15-minute drive from Sinj.
