If you head from Makarska through Vrgovac, you will reach the most well-known religious sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Međugorje. Numerous agencies offer organised excursions to Međugorje, but you also have the option of going there by car. However, do not forget your passport because Međugorje is in the neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tens of thousands of people from the most remote corners of the world visit the barren karst of Herzegovina every year to find peace and penance on the Way of the Cross built on the Križevac hill, the site of the first apparition of the Virgin Mary.
