The most important place in Makarska is without doubt Biokovo Mountain, which we highly recommend you visit. A small ethno village with a restaurant and a small animal kingdom is located on the mountain. The path that leads to the top is full of old little houses, which were used by shepherds as shelter during thunderstorms. Some of them have been renovated and turned into cottage houses, an ideal solution to get away from the heat and the crowd. To climb the mountain and watch the sunset across the Makarska Riviera and the island of Brač is a tradition that guests, on their own or with their families, continue to cherish every year.
On the Peninsula of St. Peter, also known as the peninsula of love, you can lock your love forever. A beautiful green park by the town's harbor provides the possibility to lock your love and throw the key into the Adriatic Sea. This place also offers a magnificent view of Makarska and the marina, especially in the afternoon.
If you visit Makarska, do not miss the chance to stroll along the promenade by the sea that offers a beautiful view of Makarska, Biokovo and the surrounding islands. The atmosphere of a Mediterranean promenade on a beautiful summer night will surely be an unforgettable way to experience Dalmatia.
Every day during the season you can take a day trip by boat from the Makarska waterfront. Organized excursions usually start at 8:30 a.m. and last all day, including lunch on the boat. You can visit the nearby islands of Brač, Hvar and Korčula. The boats usually make a stop in Jelsa on Hvar and Bol on Brač and the return to Makarska is usually in the evening. You can buy the tickets right in front of the excursion boat.
