Interpretation Centre Veliki Kaštel

At the foot of Biokovo, in the picturesque village of Kotišina, lies the Veliki Kaštel Interpretation Centre. Through modern interpretive exhibits, visitors can discover the area’s natural, cultural and historical heritage, as well as stories of local life and its deep connection with Biokovo. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–14:00.

120 Summers – A Topography of Memory

Take an evening stroll through Makarska and discover the video installation “120 Summers – Topography of Memory”, created to mark 120 years of organised tourism in Makarska. Through visual projections, the installation offers a glimpse into the city’s development as a tourist destination and recalls the people, places and events that have shaped its tourism story.

Malacological museum

Located within the Franciscan Monastery, the Malacological Museum houses one of the most valuable shell collections. Visitors can see numerous specimens from the Adriatic Sea and other seas around the world, and discover the diversity and richness of marine life. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–15:00, and Saturday, 09:00–13:00.

„LIFE“ exhibition

The LIFE exhibition brings art and a cultural story beyond the traditional gallery space. Displayed at various locations throughout Makarska, its contents can be discovered while taking a walk through the city. In this way, the everyday urban space becomes part of the exhibition, turning a stroll through the streets into an opportunity to discover the local story and cultural heritage.

"Note koje su spajale naraštaje" exhibition

The exhibition “Note koje su spajale naraštaje” celebrates 200 years of the musical tradition of the Makarska City Brass Band. It explores the city’s long and rich musical history and its importance to Makarska’s cultural and social life. The exhibition can be visited at Gojak Gallery from Monday to Friday, 09:00–12:00 and 18:00–20:00.
