On Friday, September 18, Makarska will bring together gastronomy, the preservation of the Adriatic Sea and maritime heritage.
The programme begins at 6:30 PM with a culinary battle between chef Antonio Brajković and local chefs, who will prepare dishes featuring blue crab – an invasive species that is increasingly spreading throughout the Adriatic and posing a challenge to the marine ecosystem. Through gastronomy, the event will explore how this unwanted species can be turned into a food resource, while raising awareness of the importance of preserving the Adriatic’s biodiversity and natural balance.
At 7:30 PM, a procession of participants will make its way to Veliki mul, followed at 8:00 PM by a reenactment of the historic naval battle of 887, in which the Neretvans defeated the Venetian fleet.
The evening will conclude with a concert by Neno Belan & band at 8:30 PM, as part of the programme marking Croatian Navy Day.
