Makarska is celebrating a major milestone this year—120 years of tourism—and the festivities begin in a special and symbolic way. On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 8:00 PM, a concert by the internationally acclaimed ensemble Mimika Orchestra will take place on the breakwater, a new and attractive venue for cultural events.
This concert is the first in a series of events marking this important anniversary, offering the audience a unique experience at the intersection of the sea, music, and contemporary artistic expression. The breakwater, as a new concert stage, brings a fresh dimension to the experience—an open space where the boundaries between land and sea, audience and performers, are beautifully blurred.
Mimika Orchestra, founded in 2010 in London and now based in Zagreb, will perform in Makarska for the first time. This year, they are nominated for a Porin award in the category of “Best Ethno Music Album.” Led by composer and conductor Mak Murtić, grandson of the renowned artist Edo Murtić, this 20-member orchestra presents original music that uniquely blends jazz, classical, and traditional influences, creating a powerful, narrative-driven, and visually rich stage performance.
During the evening, visitors will also have the opportunity to taste a new cocktail, “Makarana by Poetica,” specially created for this anniversary.
We invite everyone to join us in celebrating by the sea, with outstanding music and positive energy.
