From May 8th , Autentica returns to Makarska. This unique gastro festival celebrates local heritage through flavors, stories, and the people who preserve the authenticity of the Makarska region.
🔵 May 8 kicks off May 8 kicks off with a panel discussion on “Storytelling in Gastronomy,” exploring local customs, products, and Makarska’s gourmet legacy. Joining the conversation are culinary legends: Veljko Barbieri, chef Mario Mandarić, local food blogger Gastro Diva, and Vedrana Vela Puharić.
🟠 May 9 is all about indulgence! Taste the best wines from Makarska and Imotski, Pag cheeses, craft beer from Makarska’s first brewery, honey, prosciutto – and the star of the day: Makarska-style risotto, cooked by Michelin-starred chef Mario Mandarić and local talent Mario Tomaš.
🔵 Chef Mandarić will also judge the traditional Makarana cake competition, where talented local women will showcase this elegant almond dessert once reserved for aristocratic tables.
🟠 For those who cherish traditional sweets, don’t miss the “Rafioli Workshop”, led by local grandmothers and students from Stjepan Ivičević Elementary School – a heartwarming intergenerational experience.
🔵 To wrap up the festival on a high note, join us for a live concert by beloved vocal group Klapa Rišpet on Kačić Square – the perfect finale to a celebration of heritage, flavour, and community.
