Maestrale storytelling tours once again guide visitors through the stories of Makarska – this year enriched with a new gastronomic experience, 'Feed Your Soul'

After this year’s Maestrale programme opened with the ARTE and COOLTOUR editions, it is time to continue one of the destination’s most recognizable interpretation programmes – DETOUR. As early as this Wednesday, the Maestrale storytelling tours begin, a project that the Makarska Tourist Board has been successfully implementing for the fifth consecutive year.

Maestrale DETOUR tours are unique interpretive walks through the old town centre that introduce visitors to the lifestyle of Makarska and the Mediterranean in an interactive and authentic way. Through stories, encounters, and experiences, guests discover the city’s rich cultural heritage, history, traditions, and identity, exploring Makarska from the perspective of local people and their stories.

A special value of the programme lies in its collaboration with Agata Ravlić, a storytelling guide and the creator of the tour concept, who successfully combines heritage interpretation with education, emotion, and immersive experiences. Thanks to her dedicated work, the Maestrale tours have become one of Makarska’s most recognizable tourism products over the years, and their contribution to the development of cultural and sustainable tourism was recently recognized and awarded by Split-Dalmatia County.

The programme is also brought to life through the participation of numerous local collaborators and guardians of tradition – members of the Tempet Folklore Ensemble, retired women who portray everyday life in historical Makarska, as well as local klapa groups and musicians whose performances further enrich the participants’ experience. Thanks to their engagement, every tour becomes an authentic encounter with the spirit of the Mediterranean and a heritage passed down through generations.

he year in which Makarska celebrates 120 years of organized tourism also brings a new addition. It is a new storytelling gastro tour called Feed Your Soul, also created by Agata Ravlić specifically to mark this important anniversary. The new tour will offer visitors a different perspective on the destination through a combination of gastronomy, local stories, and Croatian products. Through flavours, aromas, and stories about the people who shaped Makarska’s tourism identity, participants will experience the town in a completely new way. The gastro tours will take place throughout September, every Wednesday, and will be conducted in English.

We believe that, just as visitors have recognized the value of the Maestrale DETOUR tours, the new Feed Your Soul programme will also find its audience and further enrich Makarska’s cultural and tourism offer in this landmark anniversary year.
